Since 2016, the McCloskey family has welcomed guests to Garvan's with the warmth and hospitality of Ireland.
What began as a dream for Garvan and Leonie has grown into a destination for locals and visitors alike - a place where great food, live music, and genuine Irish hospitality bring people together. Today, alongside their son Conor, the family continues to welcome guests as they would into their own home. There's always a reason to gather here. Join us for dinner in our historic restaurant, enjoy live music in the pub, or spend an evening in The Grove listening to some of Ireland's finest musicians. From birthday dinners and anniversary celebrations to corporate gatherings, holiday parties, and private events, Garvan's has become a gathering place in the heart of New Paltz. Just a mile from Main Street and next door to the New Paltz Golf Course, our historic home, built in 1759, offers a setting unlike anywhere else in the Hudson Valley. Outside, our property is surrounded by towering black locust trees that have become part of Garvan's story. Beneath their canopy, guests exchange vows, celebrate with family and friends, and enjoy the peaceful setting that makes Garvan's feel tucked away, yet just minutes from the heart of New Paltz. Our historic restaurant and cozy pub offer the warmth and character of a home that's been welcoming guests since 1759. The Grove, our dedicated event space, is surrounded by windows overlooking the trees, creating the feeling of being immersed in the woods while enjoying an elegant setting. It's a favorite for wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, corporate gatherings, birthday celebrations, and private events throughout the year. It's also home to our concert series, where guests enjoy performances from talented musicians - including many who travel from Ireland to share their music with our community.
